A Light-Filled Home
Our complete renovation of this Park Slope home included adding a rear addition with multiple levels, and allowing light and views in via double height windows in the main living area. Exposed Douglas Fir beams and built-in ceiling-height bookshelves with a sliding library ladder add a sense of drama to the living room, which is visible from the second-floor balcony kitchen. That kitchen, one of two we designed for the five-bedroom home, includes custom marble countertops and backsplash, as well as a professional-grade wine fridge. Light floods into bedrooms and the children’s playspace through a combination of double glass doors and deep skylights, and many of the interior doors are made of glass panelling for a sense of openness as you walk through the house. Glass stair rails crowned with natural wood banisters serve as a visual shorthand for the home’s aesthetic: a mix of clean modern lines and natural wood textures.
