A Heartfelt Condo Restoration
A strong sense of history was the guiding force behind this careful restoration of a condominium within a historic Fort Greene townhouse. The original pine subfloors were painstakingly restored with a dramatic walnut stain, and the stunning, ornate marble fireplace was given the same degree of attention and converted back into a wood-burning unit. We emphasized the four light exposures with substantial mirrors and a Venetian plaster accent wall in a metallic finish, and brought character in via a custom stacking sideboard in contrasting wood textures and a coffee table honed from a tree stump. This completed home appeared in design magazines like Lonny and Real Simple.
